BLOCK ISLAND SCHOOL LIBRARY 

SERVICE POLICY

The Block Island School Library serves the Kindergarten through 12th Grade students, faculty and staff of the Block Island School.  The hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 7:50 am-3:30 pm, and Fridays 7:50 am to 2:00 pm.

All members of the Block Island School community are permitted and encouraged to use the Interlibrary Loan System.

There are no restrictions to the loaning of material either for regular usage or for Interlibrary Loan.  Books of a certain age (80+ years old) will require special care and/or packaging to safeguard the material for future use.  Any additional fees, such as postage or shipping materials, would be handled by this library.

The loan period is the standard of 28 days to allow for delivery.

There are no maximum or minimum limits in terms of how many items are requested.  However, if the subject matter requested is in an area that is anticipated on being used by a classroom teacher for a unit (given what teachers have supplied the librarian in curriculum maps), or it is anticipated that it may be needed for reports, the librarian may restrict usage at that particular time until which time that the unit has been completed.
